Professor Glyn Davis, AC
Professor Glyn Davis is Vice Chancellor of the University of Melbourne and President of the Group of Eight, representing Australia's leading research universities. Professor Davis is the inaugural Smart State Ambassador for Queensland.
He was educated at the University of New South Wales and the Australian National University, before undertaking post-doctoral work as a Harkness Fellow at the University of California Berkeley, the Brookings Institution and Harvard.
Professor Davis teaches and researches in the field of public policy. His public sector service includes working as the Director-General of the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Queensland, and a term as Foundation Chair of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government.
Professor Davis is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and a Companion in the Order of Australia.
The University of Melbourne, established in 1853, has a student body of 44,000, more than 6,400 staff and an annual budget approaching $1.3 billion.
In its most recent global rankings, the Times of London ranked the University of Melbourne among the top 25 universities in the world.
