Smart State update - 5th October 2004
Premier Peter Beattie is calling on Queenslanders to have their say on Queensland’s future direction with the release of a discussion paper on the next stage of the Smart State Strategy.
“We are releasing a discussion paper to spark debate on the next stage of the Smart State Strategy.
“The discussion paper seeks the views of Queenslanders on key areas such as education and training, building on our existing industries and sustainable development.
“Because it affects all Queenslanders, I urge everyone to contribute to developing the strategy. I want to know what people want the Smart State to achieve and I want their views on how we get there.
“My Government will draw on the views of Queenslanders to develop the next stage of the Smart State Strategy. 'Queensland’s Future – Building on the Smart State' will provide a blueprint for Queensland’s development over the next 10 years."
Copies of the discussion paper are available at local libraries, on the Smart State website at www.smartstate.qld.gov.au or by contacting the Department of Premier and Cabinet on (07) 3224 5100.
Written submissions close on Tuesday, 30 November 2004.
