Under the Smart State Strategy: Smart Queensland 2005-2015, the Premier established the Smart State Council as an external advisory body to investigate impediments and opportunities affecting Queensland's transition to a Smart State.
The Smart State Council membership includes highly credentialed representatives from Queensland's business, academic and research communities, the Queensland Chief Scientist, the Premier, as Chair and four Government Ministers.
A Standing Committee, chaired by Professor Peter Andrews, Queensland Chief Scientist, and comprising the non-Government members of the Smart State Council, undertakes a program of research on significant Smart State issues. The result of this research is presented at meetings of the full Smart State Council for consideration and discussion.
Reports are prepared by independent working groups for the Smart State Council. The views expressed in the reports are those of the group and do not represent Queensland Government policy.
