Winning gold!

The spectacular trophies for one of Asia’s top film awards were made in Queensland.

Every winner at this year’s dazzling Zee Cine Awards for India’s huge Bollywood film industry took home a chunk of Queensland. The 50cm high, 24-carat gold trophies were hand made in Brisbane by Citigold, a company which originated in the famous North Queensland gold mining city of Charters Towers.

An estimated 500 million people watched the live telecast of the Zee Cine Awards, held for the first time in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai.

Managing Director of Citigold Corporation Mark Lynch said that since the Zee Cine Awards were taking place for the first time in Dubai, it was a golden opportunity to expand their gold brand in the region.

“India is the largest physical buyer of gold in the world and Dubai is the world’s largest physical gold trading centre so both are key export markets for Queensland gold,” Mark said.
