It is about Queensland having a robust, skilled and diversified economy, renowned for its ability to discover, develop and apply new knowledge to:
- create more jobs with higher salaries and create new jobs for Queenslanders in the businesses and industries of the future
- increase the quality of life for current and future generations of Queenslanders
- strengthen exports to generate extra income
- ensure that established industries like agriculture, mining and tourism remain internationally competitive and generate more employment
- develop new leading-edge industries and services such as information and communication technologies (ICT), biotechnology and new media
- improve community services such as health, education, policing and transport
- increase the productivity and responsiveness of government, commerce and industry
- drive investment, economic growth and diversification in regional Queensland
- develop sustainable solutions to the environmental challenges facing Queensland and the world
- ensure that regional Queensland, remote communities and disadvantaged groups participate in, and fully benefit from, the knowledge economy, including equitable access to jobs created by knowledge industries and communications infrastructure such as the internet.
