Creativity and innovation

The Smart State Strategy is designed to foster ideas, imagination, creativity and innovation in all Queenslanders. It provides the building blocks for a culture of innovation and creativity.

Through the Smart State Strategy the Queensland Government recognises the value of creativity and innovation in everything we do.

We’re fusing Queensland’s design expertise with other industries to increase economic and industry competitiveness. The $3 million Designing Queensland program will also raise the profile of Queensland design industries by branding Queensland as the centre of Asia-Pacific design.

We’re spending $1 million promoting Queensland’s tropical research and industry expertise. We will harness our tropical research and industry expertise and promote it to developing economies in the tropics like India, China and South East Asia.

We’re providing regional and community engagement events. The $2 million Q-Science program will deliver a program of Smart State events for regional business, industry, community groups, students and their parents. Initiatives include Science on Saturday, a science participation program and an interactive website.
